Details of the Fashion and Textiles short courses for 2025 yet to be timetabled .
The MADCAT workshop houses the large cutting table and machinery. The textile printing tables are on the verandah. I am happy to talk you through my design process and show you examples of my design work at different stages of completion. Please contact me if you wish to visit in a group of 6 or more so I can set aside time to show you around.
Within my boutique there is a room set aside for MADCAT skirts, tops and T shirts together with a changing room for trying on garments.
I store pieces of all my printed textiles so you can choose your own fabric which I can then make into a skirt and send to anywhere in the world where there is a postal service. I do not charge extra for a made to measure skirt providing you can come into the workshop for me to measure you. I can make alterations to any skirt to ensure a good fit while you walk around the park or visit the café.
There is a room within my boutique set aside to display wedding dresses, bridal wear and corsets. I close the workshop for an hour when I have a bride visiting to ensure I can give undivided attention to discuss her dress or work on fittings. I usually meet brides to be on Sundays.
BOUTIQUE AND WORKSHOP IS OPEN
Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11 - 4 pm. and by appointment.
Bridal consultations are by appointment only, typically on a Sunday.
The MADCAT boutique and workshop is located in the Old Anchor Inn, a beautifully restored villa within Founders Heritage Park, open air museum in Nelson. It is easy to find on Atawhai Drive, distinguishable by the old windmill that still has its functioning blades. It is on a bus route or it is a short walk from the city centre. There is a large free car park. Founders Park is well worth a visit. It has a café, a small train that runs on Sundays and various obsolete vehicles for children to play on including a full size aeroplane, fire engine and crane. There are other artisan workshops to visit within the park and static historic displays.
There is an entry fee to the park itself but this is waived if you are only intending to visit my workshop. You just mention this to the receptionist situated within the Windmill. The park regularly hosts music, food and beer festivals. If you would like to visit me during these festivals please contact me and I will meet you at the entrance and take you through.
